I just recieved an early Christmas present that I could have lived without.

After several years thinking that I was among the fortunate ones who never had to worry about my wisdom teeth becuase I didn't have any tonight I was proven wrong.
The rear of my lower gums has been tender for a couple of weeks but I always put it down to me constantly getting peanuts or seeds from buns getting stuck back there. However when attempting to remove what I thought was a particularly stubborn seaseme seed (I had garlic bread tonight) I realised that what I was feeling wasn't stuck to my gum, it was sticking through my gum. A quick check proved that it was matched by one on the other side.

Fortunately there's a lot of room back there for them to come in and a quick check with Mum and Dad reveals no family history of trouble with their Wisdom Teeth. So fingers crossed becuase I really can't afford the dental bills.

1) Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be
improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?

I think I'd have to go with the evens

Leader: Lafiel, mostly becuase she actually has military training and her preferred place in the chain of command is on top.
Lancer: This role was made for Helen.
Big Guy: It's an honest toss up between Nanoha and Ifurita. I wouldn't want and try and call a fight between them.
Smart Guy: Ifurita's built in anylitical abilities probably slot her into this role better than anyone else.
The Chick: Tsuruya-san by default. Well, that and she's kind of over shadowed by the rest of the group (barring any unforseen revelations about her true nature. She does hang around Haruhi after all even if she isn't an official member of ther SOS-dan)

2) Gender-swap 2, 8 & 10. Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?

Male Nanoha: Given where she get's her 'peace through superior firepower' attitude from, probably wouldn't alter her that much.

Male Lafiel: It might cause Jinto to blink a bit (though maybe not all that much given his conversation with Ku Dorin in the novels). Though whether it would turn into an actual romance or a 'hetero lifemate' situation is harder to call. Given that she is Abh though, basic personality wouldn't change much.

Male Helen: There we have problems given what happens to Male Claymore.

3) Compare the matchups of 1 & 8 and 5 & 9. (Ignore canon sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?

Rin and Kamina? Tomoya and Helen? I find both prospects equally disturbing becuase in both cases they'd wind up egging each other on. Though given the social stigma against Claymore, Rin/Kamina might have a better chance of working out

4) Your team is 3, 4 & 9. The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?

Balsa: While a capable fighter I'd probably wind up giving her the mental challenge becusae she is smart and Kamina... well.

Tsuruya-san: Social. Her cheerful personality could probably let her charm her way out of any problem.

Kamina: Physical. He is capable of absorbing insane amounts of damage and keep going through sheer determination. Even when fatally wounded.

5) 7 becomes 1's boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?

Konata bossing around Tomoya? Tomoya would probably be to busy trying to pull practical jokes in revenge for getting all the work dumped on him to actually get anything done.

6) 2 finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's continuity. As far as anyone other than 2 or 6 is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 2 be presumed to have had in 6's story, and could they fit in without going wonky?

Nanoha in El-Hazard. Would probably be mistaken for another Demon-God. And given the sheer number of ancient superweapons that seem to be lying about, the White Demon would probably not find herself out of work to quickly. (And if all else fails she can go 'befriend' Jinnai)

7) 3 and 5 get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?

Balsa and Rin splitting up three wishes between them? I don't think either of them would want them. Rin was in the Grail War more as a way to prove her abilities as a Mage than to get the wish and Balsa seems equally enamoured of achieving her goals with her own hands.

8) 1 and 2 are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 4. They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 4 survive? How?

Requiescat in pace Tsuruya-san. While the books reveals she's quite capable of defending herself against random muggings, let alone Tomoya's bad arm but against Nanoha? Not without divine intervention.

9) 6, 7, 9 & 10 must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?

Ifurita, Konata, Kamina and Lafiel? I suspect that Lafiel and Ifurita would find themselves completely lost while between them Konata and Kamina will concot some crazy scheme. But becuase it is Kamina they will pull it off. And it will be the best Christmas the kids ever had becuase it's Kamina. But becuase it's also Konata someone had best make sure none of the gifts are intended for an adult audience before hand.

10) 3 and 8 are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900.
Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?

Both Helen and Balsa are used to getting everywhere by foot so even 19th Century long distance transport would seem luxurious to them. And I think Balsa is calm enough to endure Helen for long enough to get to the finish line.

I'm not one to use this journal for ranting all that much, but for this I'll make an exception.

First it must be said....
I HATE THE COMMONWEALTH BANK!!!

First things first. I have recently changed my account from the Commonwealth bank purely because of their lack of providing a debit card. However I have a direct debit donation coming out of that account for the Heart Research Institute. Just $20 a month but I forgot to cancel it when I got my pay re-directed to the new account. However rather than simply declining the transaction due to insifficient funds the bank decides to honour the transaction, not once but twice before deciding to inform me about it. Furthermore their overdraft fees make wounded bulls gentle and meek by comparion.
I thought that at most I might owe $45 or so. $60 at the outside. Instead I'm slugged $100 and change. Then when I go in to clear it and stop it from hanging over my head I discover that on top of everything else I'm being charged a $9 account keeping fees.
All I can say now is good riddance and I hope never to have to deal with them ever again.

In related news DVD Pacific seems to have charged me twice for my order of Haruhi Vol 1 LE. That at least seems to have been corrected but all in all, I've had better days.

It's 35C (that's pushing a hundred for the metrically impaired) for the third day in a row, the humidity had just skyrocketed beyond belief, there's not a hint of a breeze and I'm sweating like a pig. In other words its a normal summer day in SE Queensland but for one thing. I daren't turn the airconditioners on for after a couple of days of nice, chilled air goodness I now have a head cold and the air conditioning is only going to make it worse.

There are days I hate my sinuses, though normally those are in winter.
